Best known for her booming contralto voice and gospel duets with Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Arkansas-to-New Jersey gospel and R&B singer Marie Knight scored a minor hit in 1958 with the secular R&B tune "I Thought I Told You Not To Tell Them", that appeared on the album Soul On Fire.
