Throwback Thursday: Bobby Brown - "My Prerogative"
Asserting his independence after he left New Edition in 1985, Bobby Brown's 1988 single "My Prerogative", from his second studio album Don't Be Cruel, became an immediate hit, reaching number one in Billboard's Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. A new jack swing anthem that was written by Brown and produced by Teddy Riley, "My Prerogative" also reached top ten positions in many countries, such as Ireland, New Zealand, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
