Throwback Thursday: Bobby Brown - "My Prerogative"



Asserting his independence after he left New Edition in 1985, Bobby Brown's 1988 single "My Prerogative", from his second studio album Don't Be Cruel, became an immediate hit, reaching number one in Billboard's Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. A new jack swing anthem that was written by Brown and produced by Teddy Riley, "My Prerogative" also reached top ten positions in many countries, such as Ireland, New Zealand, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Throwback Thursday Video: Bobby Brown - Every Little Step



With his new memoir, Every Little Step: Bobby Brown's Long Road to Redemption, out on book shelves and garnering plenty of press, this week's Throwback Thursday video is dedicated to the 'bad boy of R&B' and the single that inspired the book title. From Brown's second album Don't Be Cruel, "Every Little Step" was released as the 4th single from the multi-platinum LP. Written and produced by L.A. Reid and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, "Every Little Step" reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, #1 on the Hot Black Singles chart and #6 on the UK Singles Chart in 1989.
