Friday Night Throwback: B.B. King - "Every Day I Have The Blues"

In honor of B.B. King, the great blues icon who passed away at 89 yesterday, this week's Friday Night Throwback selection  is King's "Every Day I Have The Blues". The 1955 song, which King fell in love with due to its 'crisp and relaxed sound', was one of King's favorites and he would open his live shows with the song well into the 1970's. Originated with the early blues pioneers Sparks brothers from St. Louis in the 1930's, the popular song was also covered by the likes of Joe Williams and the Count Basie Orchestra. However, it is King's version that remains the staple, reaching number eight on the R&B chart while becoming an important piece in King's legacy.
