From his 1970 album Electric Funk, hard bop and soul-jazz organist and organ trio bandleader Jimmy McGriff, scored a minor hit with the eclectic, soul-jazz track "Funky Junk". The funk-driven, but groovy "Funky Junk" along with its aforementioned album, produced by Michael Cuscuna and Tom Evered, was a staple of the late-60s-early 70s jazzy soul records that marked that era.
