Throwback Thursday Video: Patrice Rushen - "Forget Me Nots"

In 1982, jazz pianist and R&B singer/songwriter Patrice Rushen scored her second Top 10 R&B hit with the self-produced and co-written (with Freddie Washington and Terri McFaddin) "Forget Me Nots". The single, which appeared on Rushen's seventh studio album, Straight from the Heart, came from the point of view of one professing her longing for an ex-lover. She ruminates on the romance's end, and sends the lover forget-me-nots, a flower that since medieval times has been given and worn to symbolize enduring love despite absence or separation. "Forget Me Nots" would peak at No. 4 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Chart and No. 23 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
