Friday Night Throwback: Mariah Carey - "Love Takes Time"

Produced by Walter Afanasieff, "Love Takes Time" was the second #1 song from Mariah Carey's self-titled debut album. Carey, along with songwriter Ben Marguiles wrote the ballad with the intention of adding it to her second album, Emotions. But her label liked it so much they stopped presses of her first album so it could be included. "Love Takes time" would reach number 1 in its ninth week on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent three weeks at the top of the chart, from November 10 to 24, 1990. It spent seven weeks in the top ten and 17 weeks in the top 40 and the RIAA certified it gold.
