Friday Night Throwback: After 7 - "Baby I'm For Real"
Marvin Gaye and a sample of Bloodstone's '73 single "Natural High" would serve as the cornerstone of this 1992 hit single from After 7. The ballad, originally written and recorded by Gaye (and his first wife Anna) and later released by Motown background group The Originals in 1969 (reaching number one on the Billboard Top Black Singles chart), would be covered by a handful of artists through the years with After 7 issuing it as their first release from their Takin' My Time album.. Their version would peak at No. 5 on the R&B charts.
