Friday Night Throwback: Teddy Pendergrass - "Close The Door"
Former Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes lead singer Teddy Pendergrass, aka "The Black Elvis Presley", scored one of his 5 Grammy nominations with the 1978 ballad "Close The Door", the first single from his second solo album Life Is a Song Worth Singing. Produced and written by the legendary team of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, the passionate "Close The Door" spent two weeks at number one on the R&B chart and peaked at number twenty-five on the Billboard Hot 100.
